Tri-wing sounds a lot worse than it actually is. It has changed me as a cadet and a person, I respect and appreciate things much more, and often find myself addressing my parents with ma'm or sir. you will learn teamwork and be treated as a unit, not as an individual. cleaning my room almost comes as a second nature to me now. if youre scared about going, don't be. its not that bad and its one of the best experiences you will ever have. trust me!!

I got home from Tri-Wing Encampment 2007 2 days ago and due to the time difference I have been sleeping and that's why I haven't signed this yet but no I am.

To my loveable flight mates- Delta rocked you! Crocket! My roomie! Haha Trying to do everything in the middle of the night was intresting and requesting CQ made staff look at us weird. It was a good time though! Congrats on runner-up for honor cadet! Wish you woulda gotten it but oh well! HONOR FLIGHT 2007 IS DELTA FLIGHT!!!

HONOR SQUADRON 2007 IS SQUADRON 2. Which means...

"Motivated, Motivated, Down Right Dedicated;
Orgianized, Syncronized, 10 times better than;
*stomp, stomp* Those GUYS!"

Love you all thanks for the amazing expierence!

Matt -

Since you've been gone, I've been thinking about my basic encampment, and I seem to recall that my favorite part was the fake graduation on the "last day."

It's really cool. They have blues formation on the parade field, and have you march proudly in front of your smiling families. And then the Cadet Commander yells, "Congratulations on completing your basic encampment." And then the audience (the families) read the next line of the script, "We don't want 'em yet. Keep them for another week!" And obeying their command, the Cadet Commander leads an improptu 10K run back to the barracks, while still in blues.

And thus starts the second week of encampment. And let me tell you, it's 10 times worse than the first week. As you'd expect, all cadets who complete their basic encampment are sworn to secrecy over this little factoid. But I figured I'd cue you in, so you're not caught off guard.

Actually, I recommend you just wear your PT uniform to graduation so you don't sweat out your blues on the 10K run. And to prepare for the second week, I suggest that you learn to sleep while marching blind-folded in 3-feet-deep mud. It's a long story, and you'll just find out next week, so I won't bore you with the details.

You know what, I think I'll just go to sleep in my queen-sized bed, while watching TV and enjoying the air conditioning. I want to catch at least 10 hours of sleep before my hectic day of ... um, ... oh, that's right. I don't have much going on this weekend. haha

Have "fun,"
- Dustin

Hey Austin,
It's Grandma again! Saw that group of pictures with the C130. Be sure to wear earplugs when around that airplane as the engine sounds can cause high frequency hearing losses big time! Once saw one of those birds when it was brand new, land at Charleston AFB in 1957. We in the control tower were amazed at the stop time from touchdown. The airplane stopped before the first intersection, and that was amazing, but then the plane parked, and the crew drove out the back in motorcycles! Have a Rotary meeting this noon, so I am going to sew before I go, and mail you a surprise. Love you---Grandma

Hey there Austin! This is Grandma---the one who went to Basic Training at Lackland. Know how sweaty it gets and how you wish to be able to jump in your pool at the end of the day. Also know how tired you get and how the hard bed feels like a soft cloud! And, just when you are sleeping so good, the all call to hit the deck is done in the the early morning. I am proud of you for doing this and know it will make football a "piece of cake". Hang in there and know you are now a real Air Force person who has the strength, ability and knowledge to make it anywhere. Love you, Grandma PS Grandpa will write you later.
